ARTIST BIOS

SUZANNE  COHAN-LANGE

Suzanne Cohan-Lange is a sculptor, designer and art educator whose principal concern over the past thirty years has been the design of educational programs, productions and museums using an interdisciplinary approach.

In 2005 Suzanne retired as Founder and Chair. of the Graduate Department of Interdisciplinary Arts at Columbia College, after 25 years and the design of three graduate programs including the highly regarded Center for the Book and Paper Arts.

Ms. Cohan-Lange co-founded and designed Chicago’s first Children’s Museum, ExpressWays Children’s Museum, 1982 (now the Chicago Children’s Museum.) She has since designed several museums in Chicago and the Midwest including the Arti-Fact Center at Spertus Institute , the children’s facility at the Swedish Museum of Chicago and a multi-arts center for Pathways, a state agency that provides housing and services for  Chicago area foster children.

Suzanne, who was recently awarded Professor Emeritus, Columbia College, Chicago is now the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City, IN and Chair. of their Curatorial Committee.

Her sculpture has always dealt with the figure as a metaphor for the human condition. Recently on view at the Krasl Museum in St. Joseph, Michigan in Sept. 2006, her work can be seen in July 2007 at the Chicago Sculpture International exhibition at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL


NIKI NOLIN

Niki Nolin, currently the associate chair of the Interactive Arts and Media Department at Columbia College, is a visual artist who works with technology.  She holds an MFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a concentration in art and technology.

She has worked on numerous collaborative projects with writers and artists, many on-line, for the Museum of Contemporary Art, UCLA, eNarrative Roundtable Boston, the College Art Association, and many others.  She has engaged in several projects with poet Maureen Seaton, poet Sherry Antonini, sculptor Suzanne Cohan-Lange and poet Nancy Gaziano. Her work has been featured at the MCA Chicago, SIGGRAPH, ISEA, Krasl Art Center, Greanleaf Art Center, Artemisia Gallery, and numerous other locations, real and virtual.

Niki teaches imaging, time-based media and experimental website design at Columbia College Chicago.


SHERRY ANTONINI

Multi-media artist.  MFA in Photography, University of Illinois at Chicago.  MFA in Creative Writing, School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Works with a combination of text, voice, sound and image to create performances and 2D/3D work for exhibition.  Lyricist and vocalist in the electronic/rock duo Kuiper Belt.  Teaches writing at Columbia College, Chicago, and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
